Leonard Brown, married 1936; two children.
Jean and Leonard Brown began collecting contemporary art and archival materials relating to the dada and surrealist movements in the 1950s. Jean Brown organized the Jean Brown Archives at Shaker Seed House after the death of Leonard Brown in 1970. Her archives expanded the original dada/surrealist focus to collect materials relating to Fluxus, situationism, lettrisme, mail art, xerography, intermedia, and other neodada developments. Brown sold her archives to the Getty Center for the History of Art and the Humanities in 1988.
